Overlook

Architect Suchi Reddy designed this birdhouse for an imagined bird-as-client, aiming to fulfill the bird’s needs and preferences. The Nest Egg, which is dome-shaped and boasts a side entrance, carries many of the same elements seen in Carolina wren nests. “I hope this work leaves the viewer with an understanding that birds deserve as much as humans,” Reddy says.

Suchi Reddy (b. 1967, India) founded Reddymade Architecture and Design in 2002 with a human-centric approach to design. The guiding principle of the practice is “form follows feeling,” a design ethos informed by neuroaesthetics, the study of how the brain responds to the design of our surroundings. The belief that good design, calibrated carefully to the human, positively influences well-being, creativity, and productivity informs all projects from conception to details.
